Kath’s journey towards Cinematography began with a ‘hand me down’ Pentax K1000 in her early high school years.

“After convincing my folks that our laundry would make a great dark room my love of photography was cemented.”

That love was quickly redirected towards Cinematography during her three years at the now infamous Swinburne Film and Television School.

“I’d always enjoyed taking photos but once I was introduced
to the collaborative process of filmmaking and the absolute
joy of reading words on a page and imagining them on the
screen, I was hooked. It’s been that way ever since.
I just love the process of working with the director to extract the cinematic elements
of the script. How can we best reinforce the story with the visuals.
How do we use what we know about cinematic language to propel this story forward.
This process obviously continues once we get on set with the cast and crew and I never tire of it.
I just love it”
